Yuk, I've said it before and am now living it: we can not support these
engines with Tracy's EC2 and EM2 without Tracy and he should train
someone else!
Got my medical back yesterday and have had the A/C laid up for a week
while waiting on it.
Did some small jobs involving wiring and calibrating the EM2. Found out
from Tracy if you wish to use the aux liquid temps, you must add 2 200ohm
resistors in an circuit that I do not understand but got it cal'd to work
and read near amb at the low end and 212 with boiling water. Added a VDO
temp sensor to the tank header by the exit of the oil from the cooler so
that could get the cool side temps of oil cooler. Drilled and tapped an
1/8 inch NPT hole and discovered turbulators. It could slide up and down
in the cooling tube. Did I knock it loose while drilling, yuk. Jerry Hey
came to the rescue and gave me Ed K's email address. Ed assured me that
they all float in the tube, whew that made my day! Thanks Jerry. Moved
the pressure sender for the oil P to a T off the PSRU supply source to
get a more meaningful location of oil P.
When I tried to start the engine late yesterday on a freshly charged
battery, no fire in hole, tried starting fluid because engine has set for
a week and had to do this at LAL after a week at SNF. Engine will go back
to Bruce probably in July to fiqure out why there is only 75 psi cranking
compression. While cranking, the rpm display on the EM2 was constantly
flashing 0 and NOP! Anyone have a hint what that is trying to tell me??
I'll bet a dollar to a hole in a doughnut that Tracy can give me several
things to check regarding wiring and the engine would run but he is AWOL
in Colo with "TED" and probably will not be able to reach him until
Charlie's flyin. Kelly if he passes by your place on the way, ask him to
bail me out with a phone call please.
I've said before and am now afraid I'm experiencing it first hand. We
need a "redundant Tracy to keep these things perking with his stuff, but
I don't know how to clone one.
