Lets see if we can now turn the curse into a blessing...
(:-) Your best hope is that it is a broken connector or wire.
If not, you could swap primary injector on #1 rotor with secondary
on rotor #1. See if the problem moves with the cutout switches. If
not then test rotor 2 in the same way. You will see if it is a bad
injector and which one. I hope you only have to buy one new connector or
one new injector...
Thanks for the good troubleshooting
info. I hadn’t thought beyond the broken connection option yet, so
this will make it easy. Fortunately, though it would be a pain to dig
back down to the primary injectors, I have two more just like them, as well as
two more used connectors. I’m sure it’s going to be a wire in
the plug though.
With that thought in mind, I would offer
this piece of advice to anyone who’s installing an EC-2. If this
box has to be placed somewhere hard to reach, leave enough cable slack that you
can pull the plug out to where you can work on it. I made the top skin on
the RV-3 fuselage removable with screws, so mine is pretty accessible.
Still, I’m going to wish I had left a loop of cable to let me get the
plug in a better place to see, and work on it.
ps. Our proximity is short lived as we are moving to
NC to bring lots of blessings to Ed. (I hope he doesn't develop and
injector problem too!)
The plane is at Ferguson
82J awaiting flight and phase 1 stuff. I will be back
down there in the next week or so depending on the WX.
Sorry to hear you’re leaving.
It’s going to be hard to fly off that 40 hours by long distance
commute. Maybe you can get a ferry permit once you feel the plane would
be safe to travel. Of course the first step it to actually fly it.
The weather has certainly been lousy when you’re in town. Considering
your line of work, I’d have figured you’d get a break :-)
