Very odd. There should be no fuel flow when not running because the
EM2 is looking at the injector on time and that should be zero of course.
Noise on injector line maybe? In any case, I agree that you should
ignore until update chip is installed. Many many updates &
improvements since that first version which you have.
Subject: [FlyRotary] EM-2 fuel flow
question
Tracy, and
all,
I finally decided to try
to calibrate the fuel flow reading on my EM-2, and don't quite understand what
I'm seeing. I zeroed the fuel reading the last time I put fuel in
the plane, but yesterday, when I put 10 gallons in, the EM-2 said 20.7 had
been used. I spent some time fiddling with alarm limits, and
then noticed that the fuel read 22.4. Since the engine isn't
running, this represents poor fuel economy :-)
I also noticed that
the EM-2 always seems to read .3 gph when the engine is off, but even that
wouldn't account for the almost two gallons in the few minutes it took to set
the alarm limits. I tried turning the EC-2 on, and then off, to see
if that changed the reading, but it stayed at .3 gph. I don't think I
can change the sensor offset on this one :-)
Unless there's a simple
solution to this, I'll just ignore it, and defer the fuel flow
calibration until the new chips arrive.
Cheers,
Rusty (anyone want a
Sonerai-II)
