Do  what Tracy "noodles" and spray water on the heat exchangers!!  Of course  you have to carry that two gallons of water around
for
the inevitable situation  :>).  Doug in CO

Here's a solution that I plan on, and some others could possibly take
advantage of.

When it's 'Military Air' outside, it's not just the engine that needs a
little extra cooling.  Those little soft pink thingies under the canopy
could also use some cooling air.  My solution is to pass the cabin air
through a heat exchanger that is topped with a box that can be filled with
ice.  The problem is that as the ice melts, what do you do with all the
water?  Why, since I'll be running my engine coolant from the front of the plane to
just behind the cockpit (for W&B as much as anything else), I'll just dump
the cold melt water into the cooling duct.  Since finned aluminum water
lines will be running the length of the duct, I dump (drip?) the water
directly onto them.  By the time the water reaches the radiator it will have
transitioned from ice to completely vaporized, and have absorbed as much
heat as possible without turning it to plasma.

The best part is that I only carry the water (ice) when it'll be needed. (The reminder being all that sweat running from under my armpits).  The only
dead weight will be a 1/2ft^3 aluminum box.
