Thanks to you both for the info. I imagine this is a float type, like the oil level sender (which is a monster). I've seen some perfectly usable senders of this type, with shrouds that prevent slosh from giving you a false reading (again like the oil level sender). That's probably what I'll have to go with if I put it in the expansion tank.

The sensor is small, has no float......When touched by coolent it provides a ground to the circuit
which turns off warning buzzer.....Attached is info from "Mazdatrix"......Sensor also available
from your favorite parts store......Price unknown......FWIW

**Note: The 89-92 Sensors (factory part number) are outrageously expensive. If the connector is simply changed over (it's just male/female bullet), then the much less expensive 79-88 one works fine. For this reason, we do not even list the OEM 89-92 sensor.
