Subject: [FlyRotary] Re: Builder Risk Insurance

They would not renew my policy in December when I told them I was putting a = rotary engine in it.  I tried to work through the logic of why the engine mattered on a builders risk policy.  The best answer they gave = (which I thought was BS) was if you finished building and started flying without notifing the insurance company, in some states the ins company might = have to cover any flight losses.

That’s interesting; and a bit unnerving. I’ve had an Avemco policy for a = few years now, and I don’t recall ever being asked what engine is = going in.  And I think it says somewhere on the policy that is for = “Not in motion” coverage.

I guess = I’ll have to keep the engine a secret.
