Hi Rusty, I don’t think coolant level switch should be on your water pump. If the coolant level drops there, it is too late. The pump will cavitate very very soon. (assuming is the stock pump). I would install it in the expansion tank or overflow tank. When the coolant drops there you will have more of a chance to head back before the pump gets exposed.

All correct of course.  The hole I have available is in the upper part of the wp housing, well above the pump level.  It's similar to the location where Mazda put it in the FD.  I do agree that it will be better in a separate tank, but I'm trying to avoid yet another rev-4 complication if possible.  
 
The level switches that I've found won't come close to fitting in the housing anyway, so a custom (because nothing I've found will fit) aluminum expansion tank may be the only option.
