I wouldn't mind spending $5000.00 to knock 50 pounds off my engine weight. I could then take out the 25 pounds of noseweitht, knocking a total of 75 pounds off of my 1150 pound canard.  I saved so much by using a "junk yard engine" in the first place, I'd still be way ahead of a Lycoming.  However, I guess it doesen't matter how much they cost if they are not available.  Paul Conner

Well, they certainly are not cheap.  Their lightened rotors are about $2100, the two pp rotary housings are $2400, the front, center and rear housings are about $4000; so, without soft ware and crank, you are at 8500, which isn't bad if you are used to lycoming stuff, I guess; but, most of us auto engine types just do not see that for the usual short block pieces price. With gears, gaskets, seals, ignition and injection, even with good shaft, you have a rather high dollar engine, there. Of course, I bet it really would be a nice engine to use with an almost 3:1 psru. Oh well, maybe I better just start buying lottery tickets if I ever want to even hope to go that way. <g>

....yes, the lightweight aluminum front, center and rear housings are available from Racing Beat. Expensive, but if you used all three of them, your engine would go on a successful 50 pound diet.  I am considering these for the street ported 4-port (or peripheral port) engine I am getting ready to put together.  Paul Conner
