Now there's a heck of an idea! Simple, easy and very lightweight. I'm going to head down to mill stores and have a look in our spring kit. There is a large enough selection to ensure something will work.

I found that a small return spring at t6he end of the cable takes care of the problem (actually in the past I have seen valves with built in return springs) The only thing that can cause a problem is spring tension, to much and it closes by it's self unless you have a locking type of cable.
