I also lived in fear of detonation so long (mostly = FD, but also the initial turbo installation) that I still shy away from lean mixtures. =20 =20 On my only cross country flight, took off at full throttle, climbed to 10,000, and never touched the throttle lever until I was ready to = descend to Paul's airport. On the way there, I played with the mixture quite a = bit, and found that it's like having a second throttle.
