Several things here! First, 50° rich of peak is standard for Lycosauruses. Tracy has been getting much better economy 50° lean of peak which the ROTARY likes just fine. EFI on the rotary can be set up in various ways. If you run a system with a O2 sensor standard it leans itself to at or near stoichiometric mixture. No problem with air in the exhaust. Mistral a company certifying the rotary, has been using lean-of-peak mixtures with it's digital EFI all along to improve mileage/efficiency. Also no trouble. If you run Tracy's EFI controller you could set it up rich enough to cause problems but the engine would be no where near peak power.
