I fly a Zenair Zenith 200 powered by a 1986 13B equipped with a Mazda 1985
electronic distributor. I do not use the vacuum advance devices. I have
wired and switched leading and trailing separately, thinking that if one
circuit failed in flight I could fly on with the other circuit. With my
timing light, I adjust ignition timing to about 20-25 degrees BTDC leading
and about 15-20 BTDC trailing.

I never thought of using the leading igniter to control both leading and
trailing circuits, but now that you mention it, I am tempted to make it so,
if it will make a marked power improvement in the 5000 to 6000 rpm range.

Please advise.
Yvon.
