I = have been doing a LOT of ground running, aborted takeoffs, etc. I have = ran the engine until water temps hit 240 degrees 4 times in the last 4 = days, and absolutely no signs of vapor lock. (prior to modifications, I = could induce vapor lock consistantly at 230 degrees). I finished the = RAM air cowling scoop, and almost finished the aluminum throttlebody = extension scoop (just needs to be welded), and a few more attempts at = fine tuning the injector open times (mixture), and it should be ready = for another flight test. I already have more power than previous runs, = and the engine is running great with the new injector, so it should fly = even faster than before, and if the ram air scoop functions as I would = hope, I should be flying off the hours rather rapidly. (On my first = LongEZ, I flew the 40 hours off in the first week, putting 10 hours in = on one Saturday). If the final tweaking is successful, I plan on doing = a LOT of flying. A 6000 foot grass strip would be no problem at all, as = long as the grass is kept short. How wide is it? Maybe I could land on = cross wise if the grass is not wet. (kidding).
