Would it be possible to increase the thickness of the plate-to- rear housing spacers on Tracy's redrive and use a pilot bearing adaptor of some kind if necessary to increase the clearance between the damper and the plate? That is, allow the spline to slide out somewhat?
Would it be completely preposterous to ask Tracy about lengthening the input shaft (a little)?

option 3 - a 'low-profile' design that would easily fit between the PSRU
and engine.  Under 1.25" would work I think, but someone will need to
measure this to be sure.

Hi Ernest,

I took a (bad) pic of this yesterday, and estimated some measurements as well.

The minimum distance between the spinning parts of the RD-1 dampener plate and the rear of the drive mounting plate is about 5/16".  This is at the end of the four bolts that attach the dampener plate to the flex plate.

The max distance is about 1-3/8", which is inside about a 6 inch diameter.

You would really need a dampener that's off the engine to measure.  The only problem on drive mounting plate side is the heads of the long AN-3 bolts that hold the drive in place.  The plate is 1/2" thick I believe, and Tracy might allow you to mill a recess to let the heads be flush with the back side of the plate.  You'd have to ask him.  It would also be convenient if some of those bolts could be used to mount the stator, which would mean you wouldn't have to recess them.

I should be receiving a new RD-1C for the single rotor project in the near future, and could make better measurements then.

Cheers,
Rusty (rain clearing at least temporarily)
