The pump can provide much greater flow when supplied with 13.8 volts than it can at <12 volts.

I thought about this some more later, and realized that my ground test was even more encouraging, since I was running a single EWP with no alt.

I held the second EWP up to about 100 potential locations yesterday, and just can't find a good home for it.  I found one spot where it might work, if I cobble up a 90 degree AN12 fitting, but that would leave a short hose from an engine mounted evap core, to the stationary (engine mount) mounted pump, and I'd worry about fatiguing the evap core.

I also thought about the fact that I'm in the process of switching to Evan's NPG-R.  Leaving the system just like it was, will show me the difference between my old coolant mixture, and the new Evan's.  I'd hate to ruin that experiment by changing something else at the same time.

Bottom line, I'm not changing the RV-3 cooling system at this time.  Just not worth the effort for something that's working fine.  If the e-shaft alt becomes a reality, I'll try the EWP without the mechanical pump.

Cheers,
Rusty  (rain really messing up my plans today)
