Does anyone have any experience mounting a gear driven alternator
attached to/driven by the flexplate gear-ring? Would something along the
lines of an 0-200 style permanent magnet alternator be useable?

Hi David,   I think the problem you'll find with this is the RPM.  Looks to me like this is made to run in the accessory case, and be driven by reasonably small gear.  Imagine that 11" (just a guess) diameter starter ring gear driving that tiny little gear on the alternator in the picture.  We could probably come close to 100,000 rpm :-)

On a side note, what is the ABSOLUTE MINIMUM required power to keep the
engine running using the EC-2, Delco Coils, ONE electric fuel pump
(assume some generic power draw here).. No electric water pumps, not

I think someone else already mentioned this, but if our assumption is that you'll lose the belt, then your battery will far outlast your coolant and engine due to the loss of the mechanical water pump.
