What about VFR on top, no decent wx for next couple of hundred miles ... or I forget to turn off something important like strobes or position lights ...
----------------------------------------------------------
Jim, I don't do VFR over the top without listening ahead to an ATIS, or AWOS to make sure there is a 1000 feet of VFR weather below the cloud to make a deadstick when I break out. I also like to fly high enough above the cloud to be able to see any breaks that might let me fly clear of the clouds if I have a problem. An hour on the battery is a long time to get down if I keep the water pump and other systems all AOK.
