This not only looks = better but mechanical strength is increased which is important in a = vibrating environment (especially with a Lyc:-). When it is not possible = to mount close to the board I usually use a dab of hot melt glue as it = is easy, accurate to place with a gun and is a perfect insulator. On a = more crowded board it is also important to keep them close to the board = to prevent any chance of leads contacting inadvertently.
