Greetings,

I put the engine back = together yesterday with the help = of Bruce’s=20 excellent video.  Seems to = be glued=20 together more than bolted.  Spent way more time with a brush than a = wrench. =20 Everything went reasonably well with a couple = exceptions.  My overhaul kit was missing = the corner=20 seal springs, and I didn’t realize that the oil seal springs = weren’t=20 included in the kit, so I had to = use=20 springs from the original assembly. =20  I also had to use = one corner=20 seal, because I managed to break one (don’t ask).

I still measure = =BD” of slop on=20 the new oil chain, which is the same as the one I took off. According to = the=20 video, that’s too much slop, so I have a message into Tracy and = Bruce about=20 it.  I'm guessing this has to be normal, but it = was a good=20 place to stop last night, and I'll wait for an answer before putting the = front=20 cover on.

The engine has a=20 K spacer, and .002” end play. =20 Turning the engine shows that everything seems to work, and that = I got=20 too much Hylomar on the housings. =20 It seems to be collected by the apex seals, and I’ve wiped = off all I can=20 get to through the exhaust ports. =20 Shouldn’t hurt anything. =20 When I get an answer on the oil chain, I’ll close up the = front cover.=20  Overall, I’m = convinced it will run,=20 and I’m pretty happy with my first rebuild.

Rusty = (still far from=20 being back in the air)
