You can use a first gen cover, as long as you aren't using an engine mount plate that was made for the 2nd gen front cover. It hit right on the corner, so the apex seal is squeezed, along with the corner seal, and even the side seal. Couldn't possibly have hit worse. I'll post a pic if anyone actually cares to see it. Greetings,

The UPS man just stopped by, and I got my Moroso oil pan.  It's a thing of beauty, but unfortunately, it doesn't fit.  These pans appear to be made for the old first gen and earlier front covers, which were thicker than the 2nd gen cover.  In other words, the distance between the front and rear holes on my engine (2nd gen cover) is about 13.75", and the distance on the pan is about 14.5".   Bummer.

You can use a first gen cover, as long as you aren't using an engine mount plate that was made for the 2nd gen front cover.  I happen to know this well, because my engine originally came with a first gen cover, and I traded it to Bruce for a 2nd gen so it would fit the CCI mount plate.

In other news, the rotors are back from Performance Coatings.  The coating is beautiful, and I might add free.  Brad felt bad about dropping my new rotor, so he not only sent a check to pay for the rotor, but didn't charge me for the coating of the other two.  Boys and Girls, this is first class, grade A customer service.   They also returned the bad rotor, and it really is toast.  Talk about a bad bounce...  It hit right on the corner, so the apex seal is squeezed, along with the corner seal, and even the side seal.  Couldn't possibly have hit worse.  I'll post a pic if anyone actually cares to see it.
