That said, I use 2" pipes, however, if I were to do it again the same way I would probably use 1 3/4" pipes. But, If I were going to join two into one, I would again use 2" pipes. But, I have no data/evidence that 2" is needed - just that the rotary does not like back pressure so I hope to minimize it by using 2" pipes. There are some schools of thought that feel if you stay smaller you keep up the exhaust gas velocity better and if the two are joined properly you can get some flow scavenging help. Lynn Hanover would have a better real world experience base on that than I..
