All this talk about oil filters and finned oil pans has reminded me of something I was going to try before. JC Whitney offers a simple device that slips over your filter for additional cooling http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/ProductDisplay/s-10101/p-298/c-10101

It was discussed on the RV list about a year ago with a few claims of 10 degree temp drops. They only want $20 so I was going to try it, as it falls into that "can't hurt" category. However JC Whitney's web order page doesn't have an option to ship to Canada and I couldn't find another source, so I just forgot about it. I just found that Aircraft $pruce now sells them for $33 and I found a Porsche supply shop that sells them for $35, but throws in a free Porsche oil filter (Hey I always wanted a Porsche, maybe I can build the car around it... I got it one piece at a time, yeah, yeah.... :-) Before I go to the trouble, has anyone else tried or considered one of these?
