To clarify, I think it is noise, not necessarily the lack of shielding
(although that may help). The big factor here is the lack of a well
defined and close-by ground system in plastic airplanes. "Ground bounce"
is one of the electronics engineer's worst nightmares. This is just
one of several possibilities for the source of the noise.

the manual doesn't specify shielded cables, but lack of shielding is what
Tracy thinks is causing my data to get scrambled on the way from the panel
to the EC2 on the firewall.
