I need to mark my dipstick with a full mark that takes the plate thickness into account, about a 1/2" I guess.

Hi Steve,

As I mentioned to Dave, you can only change the dipstick level mark if you also extended the pickup tube by 1/2" when you installed it.  (snip)

Cheers,

Umm.. the spacer is a good idea.. but what about... simply taking a torch to the pickup tube, heating it cherry red and straightening it just a tad... it keeps from having to ensure sealing on TWO flange surfaces instead of one (both sides of the spacer).. and it still shouldn't impinge on the mount/splash plate if installed.

For what its worth, there is a handful of pickup tubes in the garage, between my 3 cores and the junk core Chris had (that I have now..) and NONE of the pickup tubes are the same length.. and there is a collective 1/4" variation amongst the group of them. One of em was so "long" it had sludge in the screen from being against the bottom of the pan... I think that one was plently long/deep.
