Funny, none of those look like exhaust ports to me :-)

Well color me red.  I guess I will atribute it to poor reading skills.

For the record, I am trying very hard to resist messing with the ports
on the RV-3 engine, but I can't promise success :-)

Anyone taking bets?  I'll bet on messing.

But now I have a question.  What are the little holes below the ports?
There is a round one on the end housings and a square one on the
center housing.

Well, mine are rectangular on both the front and rear housing, and
larger but still rectangular on the center housing.  Since my engine
is in pieces, I can tell you that these holes connect to the round
holes that are below the exhaust ports.  My guess would be that these
are channels for exhaust to heat the intake manifold, but I admit that
I don't really know for sure. I'm sure someone here does though.

The little holes by the exhaust ports just got blocked off with my
exhaust flange so I will assume the intake manifold (still waiting) will
block off the ones by the intake ports.

Cheers,

Thanks Rusty,
