Subject: [FlyRotary] Re: Pump Adapter
fittings?
Good looking installation, Al. Do you happen to have the
source and part
number or description of the AN fittings you used to
convert. When I
replace my pump that would be a good time to
retrofit.

If Tracy is still selling the
same pumps I have, it is a -6 to 10mm x 1.0
weber carb adapter. I
got it at Baker Precision a couple of years ago;

#150/991953.

Keep in mind that the pumps I get are generic auto replacement parts
and the style changes from time to time. Some have replaceable adapter
fittings but there is no guarantee that they will all be that way. The
auto spec calls for 5/16 hose barb connections.

The pumps that I received from Tracy had the standard
5/16-24 brass hose barb. I was unable to find any 5/16-24 to AN6
fittings but did find the AN6 to 10mm x 1.0 weber carb adapters. With the
24/inch and 1mm thread spacings being so close, I chose to open the
threaded pump bores slightly with a 23/64 bit and
re-threaded them starting with a std 10mmx1.0mm tap and finishing with
a 10mmx1.0mm bottoming tap. This gave several almost complete threads. I
installed the fittings with fuel lube and the soft aluminum washers that
came with the new fittings. I haven't had a chance to test for leaks
under full pump pressure yet. On reflection, an appropriate
stat-o-seal might be a better choice than the soft al washer. I have
HP filters downstream of each pump before the Y back to single 3/8 line
going to the engine.
