The State Board of Equalization doesn't care for a minute where you bought your material, you'll get hit with a use tax as soon as the FAA tells them you've registered the plane. You might as well get the material at Spruce because they are only 18 miles or so from your house. You'll save a bundle on shipping, you can inventory before you accept the material and the use tax becomes a non-issue. Borrow or rent a Pickup truck. In California, try to never look too prosperous, They want a cut. Don't try to hide anything. They are absoluteoy implacable in their pursuit of your money, and they have developed extortion to a science. They also have sovereign immunity, which means that you have no recourse against any little thing they may think up to do to you, even if you win your case in court.
