On hot-side-a, there are two plugs. Is 'B' where the oil metering
pump went? What is 'A'?
Yes, Item B is where the oil metering pump is mounted. The round
"thing" near that is the drive arm for the pump, and it rotates/drives
off the front accessory gear under the front cover. The SMALL hole just
to the left of the drive arm is the engine oil feed to this oil
injection metering pump. If you are not going to use the oil injection
pump (or not use ENGINE oil for the oil injection), I would have to say
that at a minimum the oil feed needs to be plugged (if bruce didnt do
it) and honestly the best approach in my mind would have been to remove
the drive arm before remounting the front cover. To do that now would
involve trashing a gasket/seal
Both A and B are plugged with a brass plug. I think the "arm" you are
refering to may be some other clutter in the background, or is it the
brass plug? I've attached a photo showing that area from the front. Sorry, I don't have anything clearer.
Item A if I am correct is the turbocharger oil RETURN. This simply
drops oil into the oil pan below. If you arent turbocharged, you can
block this off with a blind flange made out of scrap steel/aluminum.
You also can use it for an aux oil return, an oil fill (prolly a SLOW
oil fill..) or anything you would want to do which would involve
draining into the oil pan.
If you use an inline oil filter, remember you MUST use a bypass block
on the oil filter pad. Oil WILL flow out one of those holes and needs
to go back IN the other.
The oil filter pad has been removed and bypassed interanlly. I
embarrassed myself a few months back when I called Bruce to ask him a
question about the oil bypass block. :)
Hope I was of some assistance.
Very Much so. I appreciate the help.
