I guess if they never get stretched, never vibrate, or flex, or get hot they would be ok....but why did Mazda on the later models, protect them by sleeving them, I ask? You guess. Anyhow, I think it is prudent to replace them with something more durable. I have run into broken lines on 2 13b engines I have rebuilt after taking all the intake crap off the top of the engine-the lines are hidden, and probably never checked, they just weep oil all over the place till the engine says goodby.
