Subject: [FlyRotary] Re: front cover oil
fitting thread?
Hi Rusty;
Even though I would prefer to see everything switched over to
metric, I concede that this won't happen anytime soon, so to simplify things,
I drilled and tapped all oil fittings on my block to NPT. As I wanted to use
Parker/Swagelok fittings and hose on my installation since this is what I use
at work for industrial instrumentation, it was well worth it for me to switch.
Since cost and availability is not an issue, I will not hesitate to change
hoses every 100 hours.
I had already assembled my block when I made this decision,
so I connected compressed air to another fitting to have an airflow while
drilling and tapping to ensure no metal chips entered the oil
passageways.
Given that you have the American aversion to all things
metric, I would have expected that you and others would have done this
already, allowing more flexibility and greater access to
fittings.

thread?
I need a new adapter for the front
cover, to go from whatever that metric thread is, to AN10. I can't
seem to find anything in my notes that identifies that metric thread.
Can someone tell me what it is?
I stumbled across the answer
in one of my own posts in the
archives. The front cover fitting is 16mm x 1.5 according to
the post. If someone knows that to be wrong, let me
know.
Cheers,

myself)
