Rusty, try taking a magnet to some of that
stuff. Its great for sorting out alum/rubber from steel/iron.

Dave,
I didn't
pick up anything on the magnet, so at least I don't think any of the
ferrous metals were rubbing. The bearing coatings would be non-ferrous I
believe, so they wouldn't show, unless that was the glitter in the
oil. I'm going to get by the freezing hanger sometime today, because
I'm dying to know what's in the pan.
