Subject: [FlyRotary] Re: Short intake
& George Graham update
George Graham, one of the early aviation rotary adopters, isn't on the
list so though I'd pass along his latest. After 200+ hours, his second
Mazda manual transmission (2nd gear) PSRU stripped it's gears and he dead
sticked safely on a road about 10 miles from Leesburg Fl
yesterday.
Thanks for passing this along. Sure glad to hear he and the plane
are OK. 20 miles from 5000 ft? Damn!!! Must have had
quite a tailwind :-)

Most of the canards have
around a 16 to 1 glide ratio. Not too shabby. Mike Melville used
to take his LongEZ out over the Arizona desert and shut the engine off while
catching thermals and playing sailplane. Of course he always built his
plane light and minimally equipped. Of course a good tailwind never
hurts, either. Paul Conner
