Russell,
I was surprised by an article in the last RX Tuner Mag where in a guy put a 12A into a Porshe type kitcar or something similiar, and he was disappointed in the fi mpg so they reinstalled the original carb and his milage jumped way up. It didn't appear to be from bad tuning on the fi unit; the carb appeared to be much more fuel miserly; that conclusion surprised me. Take a look at the article-perhaps this needs to be investigated.

Subject: [FlyRotary] Ellison vs EFI

Greetings,

As I ponder what I might do differently "next time", I have to wonder if I
might not consider an Ellison throttle body rather than EFI.  I had one of
these on my RV-8, and it worked beautifully.  It's simple, reliable, had
great throttle response, and good mixture control.  It also only requires
5-6 psi of fuel pressure, and no return line (usually).  The downside is the
cost, which is about $1650 for the EFS-4-5.   I don't personally care for traditional carbs, and the Ellison is certainly
not a traditional carb.  As well as it atomizes fuel, and as controllable as
the mixture is, I can't see why it wouldn't produce as much power as the EFI
system.   Has anyone tried one of these on a rotary?  Any thoughts on the subject?

Cheers,
Rusty (getting nervous about high pressure fluids that burn)
