Richard Sohn has one running, but I didn't ask which gear he was using.

I'm definitely going to have to drop in on Richard soon :-)

Unless you make some of this out of aluminum, there is very little weight
savings over the two rotor.

I'm not sure I agree with this.  I just posted a list of weights yesterday, that showed 66 lbs of weight that would be removed from the basic engine.  I forgot to include one of the stationary gears, but since I have to add the 2 lb EWP, we'll call it even.  The external stuff (intake, exhaust, mount, PSRU, coolers, etc) will be far less, approaching half the weight of what's needed for a typical 13B installation.  By my initial calculation (SWAG), I'll remove about 136 lbs, and bring the installed weight down to 194 lbs.  Aluminum end housings would be nice, but the slingshot can handle this much engine weight, and it would be interesting to initially do this with all the stock parts possible.

The more I think about this, the more I almost feel destined to try it.  I'm about 95% sure I'll build a single rotor, but the question now is whether I'll put the SS back together with the 912S while I'm working on the single.

Thanks,

Rusty
