Nice work, Dale! Did you drill the passage at an acute angle on a milling machine?  Is it like a "vee" at the bottom? Howdja do that?

Just curious and always interested in learning something.

Thank you, Barry.  Yes, it was drilled and reamed at about a 40* angle from each side.  The "V" you see is actually inverted - a slight bump left from not planning the depth quite perfectly.  I could dremel it out, if it got to be important.  The fastener holes are drilled to accept the 7mm x 1.0 cap screws that my '87 block is tapped for.  Darned odd size, I'll tell you.    If I were to make another, I'd try to make it totally "blind" by mounting it with studs, the way the original adapter was.  In view of the way the oil filter adapter was mounted, does anyone know why Mazda bothered to tap those holes at all?

Hi All,

A while back, there was some discussion regarding putting
an oil filter on the line to or from the oil cooler, and
the need for something to cap off the original equipment
filter block with a pass-through. As an exercise, I decided
to see if I could come up with a totally blind pass through,
and the result is what you see in the attached photos.
