If you are referring the pieces welded
on at the flanges; they are there to reinforce the weld at the flange against
the stresses due to the thermal expansion of the pipes. Good idea.

Here are some pictures of the 20B aftermarket to4 type
ss manifold with a wastegate outlet. The wastegate pictured is an aircraft
wastegate (flapper valve type). This unit was purchased from a racing shop in Japan.
