If Ken Welter is still on this list, he can fill you in. Basically the pilot was warned by Ken in advance of his first flight, that if his engine quit, he would enter an un-recoverable stall because his cg was incorrect. The high thrust line of the Coot was a factor. I don't know the details that caused his engine to quit running, but it was not due to the missing metering pump, as the NTSB report suggests.
