    I have not weighed the complete assembly but
my guess is
about 50 lbs +/-. The additional alum. mount plate
has a large
diameter round section removed from center. The
86-91 (2nd
generation auto trans. housing) is relatively
light compared to
the Cosmo housing which is a very massive casting.
The Cosmo
housing is much stronger I am sure. Does your
weight include
the starter, harmonic damper,etc? Tracy's RD1X
redrives are
said to weigh about 42 lbs not including flexplate
and starter.

No.  The weight is just the bellhousing and PSRU. The bellhousing is a solid cast, about 1/2" thick
all the way down.  There are some large chunks that
are just window dressing that I can dispose of, but
it will probably still be awful heavy.  I would
think that getting down to the 50+/- range would be
the best that I could hope for.
