O.K.....I gotta ask....what is emissions testing?  Paul Conner, Mobile, AL

(We ain't got none of them dad-burned tests, either).  Put the engine in

your car and drive it on down to Alabama. Heck, we don't even have

inspection stickers, whatever they are.  I also couldn't resist.

It's where the state law requires that you take your vehicle to an emissions testing facility, and pay them about $60-$70 to do the test before you can get your registration renewed.  Here in California we have to do it every 2 years.

Sounds like another scheme for the state to dip into your pockets.  Next thing you know, they'll want you to renew your license plates every 2 years, or even your driver's license. (Actually, we DO have to renew our driver's licenses every 5 years. It costs 10 dollars !!!  When I lost my metal car tag (license plate) they charged me another 2 dollars to replace that !!!  It's getting rediculous, don't you think?   I thought that living in the South was going to be less expensive !   Thanks for explaining the emission testing scam.  Paul Conner, Mobile, AL
