Joe,
Your right about the cores being different. I measured them when I got
them, but I don't recall the exact measurements. I know the one of them was
over 3 inches, 3-3/8 if I recall, and the other is less than 3 inches, but
not by very much. I think that the thinner one was about 2-3/4". The
thinner one is also about 3/8" taller than the thick one, which made
mounting it interesting.
I'm running from the water pump to the thinner core first. I figured that
since the cores are in series, and the thinner core should be less
efficient, the hotter coolant would probably produce a similar temperature
drop as the 2nd core. At least that was my thinking.

I was looking at some of the photos that you took of the cores and
it looks like you have two different types. They look like the same length
and width but the thickness of the two units is not the same? ( 1"
difference translates into 244 cubic inches vs. 300 cubic inches of cooling
volume). I also have the same units and was wondering if I could get away
with using two of the thinner ones? I believe the thinner cores come out
of late 80s early 90s cars while the thicker units come out of late 70s to
early 80s vehicles.

The oil was lagging behind the coolant by 20 degrees or so, but that has
always been the case on the ground. The real test will be when I get a
chance to fly it. The oil always exceeded the coolant by 10-15 degrees on
the old setup. I'll have to wait and see how the new setup performs.
