I bet you could still come up with an anircraft that meets the Light sport aircraft rules and uses the 13B. Or not I guess. Good Luck, Dave Leonard Well gentlemen, as Bob Dylan recently said in his Oscar winning song "Things Have Changed" ... Health requires that Sport Pilot be my lot. No more FAA physicals for the kid. The parts that I had started to assemble for my own rotary project are thus going up on the block. Hopefully, I can make you an offer you can't refuse. The lot consists of: 1. A 1994 3rd generation 13B REWTT claimed to be in decent running condition when pulled, but had @ 90,000 miles. Includes the wiring harness (carefully labeled) and the respective connecting box AND connectors. These items are salable on eBay as replacements for those who have experienced engine fires, and should recover at least $150 - 200 alone of the cost if you chose to sell them. The original owner claimed that the small twin turbos were leaking oil, and thus the engine was pulled (to be replaced by a V-6 I might add, what a shame). I confirmed this by finding oil in the intercooler (included) ... all exterior visual inspections appeared good. 2. Intercooler (standard 3rd generation RX-7) 3. Oil cooler (standard 2nd Generation RX-7) 4. HKS 3rd Generation RX-7 Stainless Steel Exhaust Manifold to adapt a single TO-4 turbosupercharger. These little puppies go for over $600 retail, just by themselves. 5. 1983 1st generation RX-7 to haul it all home in. (Runs fine ... CA smog passed, but has horn, stoplight, & turn signal problems and needs new rubber. The paint is poor, but she will get you home ... the installed stock 12A starts easy and is very strong ... but the rubber won't get you far ... it needs new skins. Slight dent on left front fender. See pictures. 6. SevenStock Special ! Fly in to SevenStock and drive your new package home! Free Accommodations. I can also save you a few bucks as the winning buyer is invited to stay over at my home during Sevenstock, (I have spare accommodations) and help secure the package for travel. I will even provide transportation to and from the event. I'm going anyway ... project or no. Will even pick you up at the airport upon arrival! SNA or LAX. Don't know what more I can do, it's up to you from here. Since my ownership I have periodically (at least twice a month) squirted "Break Free" (a favorite lubricant of mine from gunsmithing applications) through the plug holes into each rotor, and turned it over by hand at least 6 or 10 times to distribute it well. The attached flex-headed Craftsman ratchet in the pictures does NOT go with the deal. Every time I have turned it over, it gives out very nice "chug chug chug" indications of good compression on all six apex seals. I firmly believe that this engine could be used without "cracking the sandwich" & rebuilding it ... but to each his own. At least I would proceed on that assumption, you could always rebuild later, but the condition of housings, seals, etc. would of course be unknown. A wise man would follow Tracy's recommendations regarding damping the through bolts, unplugging oil galleys, etc.etc. Interested parties can check out some additional pictures at: http://home.earthlink.net/~timepilot/94REWTT_+_83RX-7 EVERYTHING .... for only $2000 ....
