Maybe he has a vibration issue or resonance that caused his cores to
progress to failure?

I'd expect
that with the water cores, since they're hard mounted to the engine,
but the oil cooler is mounted to the engine mount. It was clearly
damaged in shipping, so I have to believe that's why it failed (until the next
one does).
