I had read in Tracy's book that was a good place to return to, so length must not be too big of issue. There really isn't a whole lot of flow, and with 3/8 tubing, I wouldn't expect it to be an issue. Where does it return to the engine, the port in the front end housing? I've been concerned with my drive that returns to the turbo oil return port in the rear hosing.
