We used #2 _everywhere_ for the main power feed... from the batteries to the master relays, up to the firewall, and forward to the starter. I also doubled up on the engine ground leads, with one running alongside the starter wire to the starter, the other connected to the engine at the alternator. We used a double-sided ground "forest" (mounted to the firewall) from AeroElectric to keep all the grounds together. The starter relay is on the front of the firewall (visible in the attached photo) and connects to the main battery cable on the back of the firewall with a 3/8" brass bolt as a the pass-through, using a 1/8x1" copper bar to connect the input side of the relay from the bolt. I still think that 2/0 is overkill for the starter, but if it makes you more comfortable and you can live with the weight, go for it.
