'Course, I was always told this by oil salesmen.
That's why many truckers and racers send samples of their oil out for analysis. Seems like I read that this is a service many FBOs offer, too. It's a lot better to find out the bearings are about
to fail from the amount of microscopic babbit in the oil, than when you hear the "death rattle" at 1000' AGL. 8)
