find out what I was looking for, it is a Mitsubish starter and it is M1T
rather than MIT for a prefix. I still don't know which year Mazda (if
ever
used on a Mazda), but I know have a Delco Remy part number for it. I just
wanted to be able to order the right part, so that my starter bolt holes
would match, should this one ever fail.

If you order a 1988 NA RX7 starter for manual transmission model (and
actually get what you order !), it will fit the RD-1A/B redrive. I think
1987 - 1991 are all the same.
