When Tracy Crook changed his gear box ratio from 2.17:1 to = 2.85:1 the torque at the prop end of the gear box was considerably = increase but turned slower. Tracy figured that turning slower meant a = larger diameter prop was necessary to provide the same thrust and then = he decided that with that much more of a torque increase he could also = have more pitch. Therefore, he went from a 68x72 prop to a 74x88 prop, = I am going to try a 76x88 or a propeller that is 8" longer than my = previous propeller and with 16" more pitch. Therefore the reference to = a Monster (LARGE) propeller. =20 Tracy reports tremendous increase in take off acceleration and = climb. He reported still having 1600 fpm climb at 10,000MSL!.
