My pumps came with barb fitting on both sides, and they seem to work fine.
The inlet side is very low pressure and should cause even less of a problem.

Hi All,
FWIW, I did some poking around with Google, and turned
up another alternative. It, too, is a bit pricey - $145
(USD) for the pump and the AN8 fittings are another $7.20
each. Moreover, the flow rate may be a bit of over-kill
@ 225L/Hr.
