Subject: 360 Dukes Fuel Pump

I am going to have my Dukes fuel pump overhauled. The pump I bought from
Lancair around 1998 for the fuel injected 360 is a model 1500-00-67. I
talked with someone at CJ Aviation about having it overhauled. He said that
this model is a large-rotor pump, and that I should consider converting it
to a small-rotor pump during the overhaul. It would then probably last
longer since it is not bypassing so much fuel while it is running.

Anyone have an opinion on this? Is there a good reason to have a large-rotor
pump for a Lycoming IO360. The guy at CJ Aviation seemed to think it was
oversize for this engine and that the small-rotor pump would be a better
match. The data plate on my pump says it flows 30 GPH at 22.5 psi, which
does seem a bit high for an IO360, doesn't it? I would appreciate any
guidance on this.
