Luke,

I bought two areo classic tires at Oshkosh last summer. A few months ago I replaced the mains with one areo classic tire and one Cheng-Shin to compare performance. The cracks showed up almost immediately in the aero classic.

No chunking or balance problems yet. No noticeable difference in rolling resistance. Too early to tell about wear rate.

My impression is that the rubber compound is too hard or simply of a poor quality for this application.

Regards,
Bill Hannahan

Just an update on my situation with the areo classic tires.  Desser sent me another set to try and after 5 landings and light weight, they were coming apart.  Attached are the pictures.  I also had alot of vibration with these tires around 60 knots.  I have gone back to the Cheng-shin and they do not vibrate and are not coming apart.

I want to know if anyone else is having these problems with the aero classics?  Desser has been helpful with replacements, but i can not keep changing tires every month.

As a side note, spruce is sending the smaller Kenda tubes when ordering the cheng shin.  The smaller tubes are much easier to put it.  They almost seem too small in the cheng shins, but it is holding pressure and seems to be working fine.
